Default logging winch cable

I've got a fransgard logging winch, that came with a 3/8" cable. I need to replace it, and wondering what type of cable to buy. There seems to be dozens of types, materials, weaves available.

Also, is it possible the original cable was larger when new? It seems to have flattened, or compressed with heavy use, so perhaps it was actually 7/16" when new.

Default Re: logging winch cable

Not knowing exactly, but I would assume that most any wire rope would work for that winch as long as the rating of the rope exceeds or matches the winch. Google the unit and see what it takes.
