I can't believe I got this far and then be so disapointed....

I have a cub 7254. I picked up a used 48" PTO driven JD snowblower and front hitch and adapted it to bolt up to the cub. The drive shaft goes nicely to the hitch and the blower fits perfectly. The hydraulics work great - lifts up and down and the chute turns crisply. All good so far... And a lot of work....

First run down the driveway - no snow out the chute and it is coming out the sides of the front.... What's wrong - the blower is running in the wrong direction!!! Fan and auger backwards! Yes Martha - I did not think to consider the rotational direction of a large Cub vs. a JD CUT.

Does anybody have ideas on how to solve for this?? PTO reversing gearbox? Change the gearbox on the JD blower?

I'm lost and depressed - oh yeah - it is going to snow tonight!!! Minnesota...

Also - has anybody figured out how to get these kawaski engines to start in the cold weather??

Could you take the augers off and reinstall them on the opposite sides?

my kawasaki bayou atv starts great in the coldest weather...never had an issue.

can you turn the augers around?

Even if you reversed the auger I think you will have problems reversing the blower, fan. I take it its a 2 stage blower.
There are pto reversing assemblies... they are not cheap. KennyV.

Id rebuild the auger with fan blades tilting the other way. If you have come this far might as well take the time to fab one up.

If I understand this, you mounted a rear pto driven blower on the front of the tractor. How are you driving it. If by belt could you cross the belt. I have seen this done on attachments with long belts.

Check your shear pins. If the impeller shear pin is broken you will get what you are describing. I have done it several times. The auger will still turn when the impeller shear pin is broken.

On JD, the front PTO spins the opposite direction from the rear when viewed from each respective end of the tractor. That means if you take a blower designed to be on the rear PTO, it will spin the wrong way when mounted on the front. So its not a JD vs Cub thing, its a front vs rear PTO thing.

Also, the front PTO is typically geared to run at a much higher RPM (to make things like snowblowers not have to have a speed increasing pully or chain). Front implements might be designed for 2000 RPM vs 540 on the rear.
