Snowblower Front mount snowblowers - MF 1410 vs 2360.

   / Front mount snowblowers - MF 1410 vs 2360. #11
I wish I could say I love my MF 2360 snowblower. It is the least reliable attachment for my GC2300 tractor. Heavy snow kills it all the time. My single stage BCS blower better job. Being only 28" wide is a negative on my 800 foot long driveway. Either the shaft bolt or chain breaks inside the blower, which means taking it off, flipping it over, and fixing it before giving up and using the plow on my Kubota L2250. Anyone know of more reliable snowblowers for the Massey?

It sounds like you need new chain, connectors and sprockets for the BCS 2 wheel mule.

You should contact the folks at Reist Industries in Elmira, Ontario,Canada to ask about the Reist Series 1000(48") Single Stage for your Massey/Iseki mule.
Their single stage units can be set up for usage of the mid point PTO. They can also be used on the rear mounts with no modifications.
The snow blower rotor speed can be changed with simple hand tools to increase the rotor speed by swapping gear sets.

They can be mounted on the front with a mounting kit attached to the snow blowers three point hitch using one of their mounting kits
and it can be used on the rear with its standard 3 point hitch mount and rear of a tractor and use the 540 RPM of the rear power take off.

A while back I uploaded a picture of a hydraulic drive 48 inch single stage unit mounted on bobcat skid steer.
They are very well built with heavy steel panels and full welds.

We had a IHC single stage unit on our 1967 12 horse original IHC cub cadet and never had a lick of trouble with it.

Thanks. The BCS is OK, it's just the Massey. I just went on the Reist site and requested more info. I'll see what they have to offer.

pwhite, the mf2360 is the same blower sold by Kubota and other tractor companies and there are thousands of them out there working OK. Shear bolts can be a nuisance but if your chain is also breaking then something is wrong. It takes a LOT of force to break a chain. I would start from scratch, making sure the bearings are OK, the sprockets are properly aligned and the chain tension is correct. I have a hunch that the chain is coming off the sprockets but not actually breaking?

Think about this.
1. purchase a PTO driven hydraulic pump - There is a Prince- PTO Hydraulic Pump, that produces 22GPM, for about $550, for example. That is almost 26 hp
2. purchase a hydraulic motor with a PTO output shaft that will run your blower - HP and RPM, Surplus Center has one that will put out 20+ hp at around 540 RPM for around $250
3. purchase hoses and fittings to run from PTO pump to PTO motor - run and tie up that hose
4. fabricate a mounting bracket for the PTO motor on the blower
5. purchase a connector (female/female) to hook the motor to the blower's PTO shaft
6. purchase a SSQA plate with TPH attachments on it - eBay has one for about $275.
7. put the modified snow blower onto the plate and the plate to your FEL and there you have it, a front mounted hydraulically drive snow blower for less than a grand and a half and you can use other TPH attachments on the FEL to boot.

Oops - I forgot, you'll also need a reservoir for your pump setup. Should be able to install it all on the TPH.

The Reist series 1000 single stage will be much easier to deal with as they provide all the front mount attachment parts.

That 1000 series does look good. We have a lot of wet, heavy snow here that the MF 2360 has never been able to handle. If something isn't breaking, then the chute is getting clogged. I've sprayed with silicone and other sprays and also added rubber Toro blades to the inner auger to close the gap. I contacted Reist this afternoon to see what they can do.

So hopefully this thread is recent enough to not wake any Rip Van Winkles, but I was wondering how the research went on the Reist? I am just getting a 2410 and it comes with a rotary broom (also made by RAD) and so it includes the sub-frame/shaft/hyd lift needed by the 2360. Wondering if this Reist 1000 could mate to that quick hitch or if finding a 2360 without the sub-frame is the way to go...

Thanks

Hello and good morning mgstevens,

You need to contact MK Martin directly as they purchased all the rights to the Riest snow blowers and snow throwers. I will help you as much as I can as a single stage unit is so much easier to live with and use and is not an energy hog, oink, oink, haha.

Please check your PM's
