    Default PTO generator for bx1830

So, with the latest ice storm, I've started looking at generators.

I have looked at these on the web.

    NorthStar

    Winco

    Baumalight TX

The Baumalight is the only one I can find with 11 pto hp required. The others require 14. The bx is 13.7.

If I'm only pulling 2-3k kw will my tractor be fine with the "cheaper" gens that require 14 pto hp, or am I way off the mark in thinking that?

Or, should I just get a gas stand alone unit. I like the idea of not having yet another motor to fix/repair/keep going. That's why I got the snow blower attachment for my bx, which I LOVE.

    Thoughts, concerns?

I was told that, if you purchase a PTO generator that is too big for your tractor output, it will still produce the full amount of power your tractor is capable of, and the generator will not heat up since it is not running at its full capacity, and it has more rotary inertia so it will start high current loads such as motors much better, and of course it will be there for when you upgrade your tractor later for a little more power. For your consideration.

Here's a place to consider. These are copper wound, active voltage regulation, nice big frequency and voltage meters, and all electronics are housed in a shock-mounted weather-resistant enclosure. The generator comes in a first-rate three point cage, and includes a power cord (ask for longer thant the supplied 10 feet), and a Eurocardan PTO shaft. Mine is the 15Kw model, which apparently has been discontinued. They have a 12Kw and a 17Kw.

P.S. Don't follow the link to their new website, the link doesnt work. All the info is on the page I posted the link for.

I took a look at those, and the 12kw model requires 24 hp which might be really pushing it for my 1830.?
