Rake Landscape Rake?

I have a chance to purchase a new landscape rake at a good price. I have never owned, used, or even seen one used.

A lot of people here seem to really like them, which is why I am considering it.
I hate to spend the money now, but dont want to lose a good deal.

Question how usefull are they? Do you use yours much & for what?
Pros cons??

If you don't know what they are used for you don't need one. Save your money.

Just re-read that this is a NEW rake... What size rake and what's your definition of a "good" price? I always buy used and most likely would not spend over $200 for a rake.

ON USED Stuff, I'm the other way... if it's a good price, you should be able to resell it later for more money. I have plenty of stuff that I have not used... YET! I could have sold most of them for scrap $$$ to get my money back.

They do well on gravel driveways to smooth out the gravel. Also, for cleaning up areas with branches/sticks, you can do a little bit of leveling dirt with it... just to name a few...

Landscape rakes are used for a variety of task. Cleaning up rocks and roots. Putting the final touches on finish grade to prepare for seeding. Even snow removal. Since you are in FL, maybe cleaning up debris on some sandy areas or finish grading a road. Most people buy an implement to perform a certain task. Your buying an implement and then looking for what it can do. Sort of backwards......................but that's not aways a bad thing. If it's cheap enough, buy it and play with it and see if you have a need for it. If you don't need it you can always resell it.

Before I bought my landscape rake, I was like you and had never seen one in person. But after reading about them on TBN, thought that one might be handy to have. Well I was pleasantly impressed. Turned out that they are very versatile. My only advice about purchasing one is to be sure that it is tough enough for your tractor. As with most implements, you get what you pay for and they are not all created equal.

This is a brand new John Deere, Imatch 7 foot for $400, which is less than 1/2 of list price. I know that if I can find one used that I can get it for less, but it probably wont be Imatch compatable.....

I have 11 acres that I will be building a house on in a couple of years, and am trying to figure out how usefull it may be for final grading, and if it would be usefull in the garden after to remove small weeds without tilling.

If you are going to be doing a lot of landscaping get the rake. Also consider Gage Wheels. They will make the operation of the rake even better.

I say grab it,thats a very fair price.I bought a 7ft befco rake this year that cost me $1000.You will find alot of uses for a landscape rake.coobie

I have to second this advise. I just built a new house and tore down and buried the old house and in the process a LOT of dirt was moved around. Without the landscape rake I would NEVER have got all the rock, roots and other debris cleaned up.

Depending on the turf you have, you can use them to open it up for over seeding, pulling out thatch also. They can amaze you how much dirt they will move but if you are on loose sand would think it would just pour though. Mine will sit idle for months then be used for several different jobs many will be odd jobs. Also great for raking pine straw and large especially damp leaves. Not that great for nuts.
