I have spotted a finishing mower that the owner is willing to sell, but I don't know what brand it is yet, or if it is a good model to get. It sort of looks like the one in the picture. It is mainly yellow with some white, and I think it's 5', but it could be 6.
The main feature is that the pto shaft drives a large vertical pulley, which drives the blades via a long belt. I think it has two rear wheels and the front height is up to you to control.
Any input on what brand it is (I'm in eastern Canada.) Should I pursue it? It seems to be in decent shape, although it has been sitting outside.

Thanks,
Jim W

Does it look like <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/forumfiles/5-141161-MVC-629F.JPG>this one?</A>

Yes I think it does. I need to go back and take a look I guess. Can you say whether the big pulley/belt arrangement seems any better or worse than a differential?

Jim,

I really can't comment personally, but there was a thread that discussed this. Take a look at <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=implement&Number=139980&page=&view=&sb=&o=&vc=1>Belt vs Gear Mowers</A>
