Should I keep these two implements or not??

Bought a JD 790 with FEL a couple months ago and have thoughts about my scoop pan and boom pole. I'm thinking now that I have a FEL that can do the work of both, I might just as well sell the boom pole and scoop pan. How about you folks? Does anyone with a tractor having a FEL still need a (or find use) for both of those attachments?? If you do, is it often or do you just use these two occasionally now??? I can see an advantage that the scoop pan would have over a FEL and that would be the ability to get into a narrow spot that a 4/5ft bucket can't get into. I can't see any advantage that the boom pole would have over a FEL other than the load would be behind you and not obstructing vision as you are driving forward. Of course, the weight carrying capacity of the boom pole is less than the FEL so that's another knock against it. Your thoughts???

I don't have either of those attachments kebo, and with the FEL on my 790 I don't see any reason to add them to my collection right now. The one thing I have heard the boom pole used for is a lift for a chain harrow. Makes sense, but that's another implement I don't need.

i have a 3130 with a loader and have still used the old boom pole, and guy gave me. i have used it when pulling posts out of the ground. sometimes i would have to really get after a post after i broke it off at ground level, and with the boom pole i could lower it to the broken post, and get really close and wrap a chain around what was left, and not have to worry about damaging the loader, if i had to get kind of rough with the post. i guess to sum it up, if you sell the boom pole, it probably wont bring enough money, that will make it worth selling it, if there ever comes a day you find you need one. i have several implements i dont use much, but when i do need em, i am darn glad i still got em. Not real sure how you would use the dirt scoop, being you have a loader, but you never know. good luck whichever way you go

I use my boom pole for dragging brush and saplings (under 4") to my chip pile. As I clear brush or limb a tree I stack the cuttings with the butt end on a short rope laid out on the ground. The rope has an eye splice on one end and a back splice on the other. When I get a good sized pile I pass the back spliced end over the butts and thru the eye splice, cinch it tight, hook it to the boom pole, lift it just enough to get the butt ends off the ground and haul away. Works nice and not really something I could do with the loader.

I might get rid of the scoop, but I'd definitely keep the boom pole.

Sold my pond scoop and haven't missed it. I'm tempted to buy a boom pole. If you bend or break a boom pole, it's not like you bent your bucket.

I bought my boom pole at an auction for $12. Turns out it also fits a post hole digger! I use it for all kinds of tasks including taking deer out of the woods etc-- for the money it was a great buy and no I would not sell it for $12. I don't have a rear scoop but do have an fel -- still looking for a cheap scoop at auction -- figure if worst came to worst it would make an instant counterweight and allow me to transport two loads of sand and gravel per trip -- JMHO

It could also lift other typs of drags.

My boom pole works nice with a harrow. I grade driveways and cleared lots with a rake which will leave mini trenches. I use the harrow to smooth things out.When I require to back up or get into tight spots with the harrow I will use a chain and clevis attached to the boom pole and lift the harrow off the ground. This allows me to back up without running over the harrow.
