MF 50
Hey y'all,
I'm definitely a newbie to the tractor thing. I recently bought a used '57 MF50 (34HP Continental gas) and was wanting to purchase a 12" turning or moldboard plow (either a 2 or 3) but didn't know if I had enough tractor to pull the 3. What do y'all think?
Thanks in advance,
WW

I think you would be better off with the 2-12 plow.
Welcome to the site and good luck with your tractor.

Oleozz,
That's kind of what I was thinking, but thanks for the confirmation. What brands would you recommend? I am looking at a KK 2-12" or a Linebach 2-12" - they look pretty much the same.
I got on the tractor today - beautiful weather here is SC (mid 50's and bluebird skies) - and disced up about 2 acres for some winter wheat...very therapeutic with my old beater :)
Thanks again,
WW

I grew up on a Ferguson F40, which is essentially a Massey Ferguson 50. We pulled 2x14"'s and in some conditions, that was ALL the Fergy wanted. You MAY be able to pull 3x12"'s in ideal conditions, but keep in mind, you've got a 50 year old tractor there, and you don't want to press it for every ounce of what it has left to give.

I've still got that old F40 and a Massey Ferguson 50 that was my uncles. They were good tractors.
