Hello Milt,

Regarding do-it-yourself, it is certainly possible and lots of folks do. I planned to do all my own work and I studied all, or many, of those posts in this forum since I'm a real novice when it comes to hydraulics. After much reading I pretty much understood how it worked. I bought the right valve and figured out how to mount it. But then when it came to specifying the hose connections I got confused and uncertain. It's not really complicated but there are a lot of ways to go wrong. Finally decided I had better call in a pro. I ended up paying for some more education but the job got done right.

It works great. I could not have imagined how much faster clearing brush and saplings is with this over trying to use a bucket. It even pulls weeds. I almost opted for a bolt on bucket claw, I'm glad I spent the extra cash. My only complaint is the solenoid valve and connectors. They leak. I can hear the valve and see the drip from the connectors. A buddy told me, "All quick connects leak.". Not so. I will change the connectors to Parker, but wait on the valve. I just unload all pressure on the system when I park. I guess I should call W.R. Long, but I've been having too much fun working with this monster and I don't want to take it apart to send it back.

I received the new couplers but just got around to installing them today. I ran the cylinders to bottom in both directions and held pressure for a few seconds. The couplers are dry as a bone.

Do you want me to send the defective ones back?

Yes, please send them back. I want to get them back to the manufacturer.

Were the QC's you were using a matched set, from the same manufacturer?

Yes they were. I spoke to WR Long and they had received a bad batch from one of their suppliers. They shipped me a new set of QC's, everything is dry as a bone now.
