Hi,

I bought an old IH 8' double row pull type cultipacker today. It is still froze down hard to the ground, but will eventually thaw out (at least according to Al Gore). What do they weigh? I'm guessing well over 1000 pounds, but that's a guess.

I picked up a six foot Brillion model with double packers and it handled about the same as an 850 lb tiller I had so your guess is probably close.

Least that much.. anyways.

(Is there somebody from the "Flat Earth Society" that I could use as a reference to refute Global Climate Change -- or maybe someone from the Institute of 'Nain'tNeverEvolution...?)

I have an old 12' single row bet it's at least 1500 maybe 2000, has concrete weights over the top.

Before I bought my single axle cultipacker, I got info from T.G. Schmeiser Inc about the weights of their Till-an-Pak cultipackers.

Measure the size of the rings and use the info below to get a pretty good weight estimate.

It doesn't seem like it weighs that much- on concrete it rolls REALLY easily- its ALL wheels!! :D

Thanks for the input guys.

Flusher - nice chart. Too bad I didn't bring a tape with me. I was thinking that the wheels were in the 12" range. It was used up to last year on a 270 acre corn farm. The listed weights in your post are for a single row of wheels? If so, then I am estimating low low low as the one I bought has 2 rows of wheels and looks to be plenty sturdy built. Probably at least 2000 pounds and possibly 3000 maybe more. I can't easily run to get a measurement as the equipment is about 80 - 90 miles away. Too much fuel cost and time just for curiosity.

Looks to be a decent buy at $300.

Thanks again,
jb

Looks to me like the Schmeiser data refers to single axle units.
