skid steer mount problems.

I'll get more photos later in the week. Weather premitting. Its coming up to the high school basketball sectionals around here and we are due for one last cold snap and a couple of ice storms. Anybody from Indiana knows what I'm talking about. Today high of 50 tomorrow high of 20.

I do know someone who could make new pins for me if that's what's really wrong. There is an adjustment on the bolt for the spring tension, and as you tighten it down the bolt gets "shorter" and the pin shouldn't go as far down.

Right now all I want is to be able to latch the darn things. If I have to jack with the pins I may him just shave a few thousands off the pin that are in there. I really think that's all it would take.

I finally got around to getting the bucket to another TBN'r and we hooked it up to his Kubota without any problems. So at this point I've narrowed it down to my pins. Either they are made wrong or are positioned wrong. I took a measurement from the Kubota to check the alignment between that and my setup.

Glad to hear you've got the problem narrowed down -

Looking at your pics, the alignment looked OK vertically. As the FEL mount looked like it fit pretty flush up and down into the bucket mount.

But the front and back - horizontal - wasn't right. The pins wouldn't drop all the way down.

You could shave some off the pins. Or you could shave some material off the bucket mount (bottom). Or you could remount the hitch on the FEL.\

When I had this kind of problem - I took material off the bucket mount as there was lot's of "meat" there and a little wasn't gonna make any difference for strength.

Slots for the pins? On the bucket side or the tractor side. I KNOW the bucket is ok, because it fit on another skid steer mount. I took the bucket over to someone else who has a SS mount and it (the bucket) worked fine.

It has to be either the alignment of the pin. ie the distance from the front plate to the center of the pin. Or the tapper of the pin is incorrect.

I hope to check the alignment either tonight or tomorrow.

I used a plasma cutter, 4 1/2" grinder and a couple of hand files to clean things up. The pins on my 110 are fairly big - so, I probably took 3/8ths from the bottom slot.

But, it will depend on how much you need to remove; just a 1/32 or 1/16th - file it.

Got it now.. I'm the opposite of you.. I'm trying to now have to modify every implement I get so it will fit my tractor. Rather make the tractor conform to the SAE standards.

I did go out and measure the distance from the bucket plate and the center of the pin. It is 1 1/8". That same measurement on the tractor that worked was 1 3/8". In reality ( I could be wrong here) but mine should actually be looser than the one that worked.

UPDATE..
I did some measuring and found that my pins are about 1/2" too long. I used the spec that was posted here on TBN (SAE J2513). It shows that the distance from the top to lower edge of the mount should be 16 5/8". If I measure from the top on MY mount on the tractor to the center of my pin I get about 17 1/4". I have a rather long taper on my pins, approx. 2 1/2".

Guess I'll either take it to the grinder or might take to a friend who has a real machine shop and he can fit perfectly. That mean taking the bucket and the mount on the tractor over to him. But when he get done I know it'll be correct.
