skid steer mount problems.

On my Case skidsteer, when I put the lever down to lock the pins in place, they don't go all the way at first. but as I wiggle/shake the bucket, the spring loaded pin will seat further down in the slot until it bottoms out, and then they hard to unlatch since it is wedged pretty good. I have had to take a 2 lb sledge to help raise the pins at times. This is only on different implements.

Hi Wedge,

I agree you should change the adapter rather than all your attachments, especially if you ever want to sell the attachments. And if you make a mistake, you can always buy or fab a new link. Still, there are a lot of dimensions that affect this fit and, therefore, a lot of chance for error. For example, if I understand you correctly, you are assuming that that 1 7/16 dimension is to the centerline of your pin but I don't see anything in the drawing that infers that. More probable is that it's to the back of the hole in surface C. Then there are the dimensions to intersecting surfaces (like A and B) that probably assume a theoretical sharp intersection but the actual adapters have rounded intersections, which would make a good unit measure shorter. If it were mine, I'd look for differences between the working side and the defective side. This may even include pivot locations of the handles or differences in the "throw" of the handles. The most practical correct for most of the possible errors may still be shortening the pin, but I would remove a little at a time. Back to the vicegrip analogy, on a toggle mechanism, its a very small adjustment between too loose and too tight.

I understood most of what you're saying. Right now I plan on taking the mount (tractor side) and the bucket over to a friend with a small machine shop. I hope we can put mount and bucket together somehow and make small adjustments on the pins. I feel more confident having him grind the pins down and making sure the angle of the slice is kept the same.
I've been playing around with my drawing and some thing dont measure up. I must have the distance from the center line of the pin to the SS plate incorrect. I'm thinking we're talking thousands of an inch shaved off the pin slope.

Isn't this a new adapter? Did you try contacting the manufaturer? Is there any way you could adjust the pins to retract more? I know there is some adjustment on my mount.

Yup it's a new adapter. And I have the pin adjusted to the full height.
I guess I really should contact Koyker, because they always seem pretty good at helping out.

Anybody have some hot sauce to go with this Crow.

I contacted Koyker and they were real nice to deal with. They looked at my photos and like everyone else figured the holes on the bucket were too small. Well we finally had some decent weather and figured I try the grapple one more time to make sure before starting to grind on the pins. I have the pins adjusted so they lock in pretty easy. I move the bucket to front step, just in case I was going to start grinding on it. Hooked up the grapple and sure enough, the pins dropped right in. I'm thinking that when I hooked up the grapple before, either the pins were not adjusted correct, or it wasn't seated properly.
This time I went and got a micrometer to measure the bucket holes. It was easier to work on since it a foot or so off the ground. Sure enough the holes were about 1/8" too small. Got the 4 1/2" grinder out and made them bigger. I can now latch the mount, but they are still pretty tight. I'm thinking I'll shave another 1/16" off in the next few days.

Thanks to every who offered help

Wedge
