Sprayer ATV/RTV Sprayer Options

I plan to spray a fire break around the perimeter of my 7 acres. It is rough and hilly terrain. The break is about 8-10 feet wide for a distance of maybe .3-.4 miles (just a guess). I think is about a third to a half acre for application of roundup or similar herbicide.

I am looking for a sprayer to mount in the back of a Kubota RTV 900 and use it a couple of times a year. a 15-205 gallon unit seems about the right size. A hand wand as well as either a broadcast nozzle or boomless seems better than a boom setup.

Here are ones I found that look like they would work: Am I on the right track or are these underkill/overkill?

This one has bottom suction and a nice pump, but it is pricey compared to the others.

I see mixed reviews about the workmanship on Fimcos, but this looks like it would be fine.

I use a short boom spraying between rows of Christmas trees on rough ground because I like the control I have over drift. Didn't see a price on the FIMCO but having both boom and wand is handy. The real isssue is pump quality and capacity.

The Fimco pump is 3.8 GPM / 45psi Price about 400
The North Star is 2.2GPM / 70 psi Price about 200

I have a 25 gallon Fimco with a 12' boom that I like. I think the boomless would work well for you with that narrow of a path to cover. If you take care of the sprayer, it will last. I forgot to add antifreeze to mine for winter storage the second year, and the hand wand cracked. I called them and they reminded me to add camper antifreeze next time, and sent me a complete wand assembly no charge. A couple years after that the pump was acting up. I called them to buy a new diaphram at a reasonable price. Runs like new now.
I don't expect everything I buy to last forever, but i do expect the company to offer good service when I need help. Fimco was great to work with.

I have a 15 gallon FIMCO sprayer and keep it mounted/stored on the back of my ATV year round. Like Ford850 I found out the hard way about freezing and the sprayer handle.

One of the problems I find is steering/speed control of the ATV while having one hand occupied with using the sprayer. Considering the rough and hilly land you are going to work on, you might find that your RTV may need two hands most of the time and a boom would be much more effective. Spraying by hand limits you to only one side of an area so you will have to maneuver the path at least twice.

We have the Fimco 25 gal boom less sprayer, I like it a lot, does a great job with tempo or roundup. Also does a good job with fertilizer.

I leave the firefighting to the professionals, but it seems rural homeowners can do some things to prepare for fire season. I am building a homemade skid unit for my RTV with pump, hose, and tank, but it is to spray foam and gel before bugging out and leaving the firefighting to those who know how to do it. Keeping weeds under control and having a fire break is another step, but I don't have anything other than a backpack sprayer now, so with an RTV it should be easier to use a larger sprayer.

We use our ATV sprayer for fire duty when burning anything, 25 gal of water from that does a great job in wetting down a fire break. The wand does a good job when it's too hot to get into a hot spot also.

Ibought a 60 gal. fimco boomless sprayer for my rtv.I got it from my kubota dealer. It is on a metal skid that fits well in the rtv and has 2 bars that lock on to the side of the bed so it won't move around. very happy with it.
