Grapple Any thoughts about using a stump bucket grapple instead of a full sized grapple.

I've often wondered if just for picky logs if the small narrow grapple wouldn't be better.

I've been using a 280lb 48 inch grapple for the past three years. Works just fine lifting logs, rocks and anything else I can stuff into it and lift. My loader lifts 2700lbs and the 3/8 inch tines are as straight as when I took delivery.

I have the BoDozer with 1/2" top tines and 3/4" bottom tines and it has taken a beating. I would love to try a light weight narrow grapple as I've had times where it would have been handy. Plus its real heavy (about 800lbs). I've often wondered if just for picky logs if the small narrow grapple wouldn't be better.

If you don't mind me asking, how much does a bodozer run? That thing looks slick.

As I recall you could buy about three of the Markham grapples for what a Bodozer costs. The Bodozers are beautifully built and I believe have high tech steel alloys rather than mild steel. Nice grapples to be sure but over kill and over weight for what most CUT users need.

This is my new 48" Markham grapple with thicker 1/2" tines and tighter 4.5" spacing. Works great!!

Whattaya mean "works great"? That thing is spotless and has no scratches. The decals are intact.

We want some proof and action photos!:D

Could you take a picture from the front standing in front of it. I'm curious to see how the spacing turned out. Thanks Shawn

That looks deeper and taller than the gator. Now I'm starting to 2nd guess myself.

I've got to make up my mind, the chiggers and ticks are going to be out soon and I won't want to finish my project.

Islandtractor, believe me , it's dirtier now. It was so much fun to use that I never got off to take pictures. I'll try to get "proof of use" this weekend! I blame you for talking me into buying this! Any chance my wife won't notice this new appendage on the front of my tractor? I havn't pointed it out to her. If she does, I'm blaming it on you!

As far as the spacing, there are simply identical tines in the bottom between the big "teeth." They just don't extend forward past the round frame like the teeth do. The main bottom teeth are 9 inches apart and one 1/2" spacer between each. It certainly adds some strength to the bottom section, and keeps smaller rocks from falling out. Whether that is really important is debatable. I'll try to take more pix this weekend if this is not clear.

I doubt if this any longer or deeper that the stump grapple. I'll bet they have the same dimensions other than width. Why don't you ask Melissa at Markham? Also, these photos were with a wide angle lens, so there may be some distortion in scale. In person, it doesn't look so big. In fact, after I purchased it, my friend (who is a co-owner) commented it was smaller than expected.

Dangerdoc, this picture may give you a better idea of size and scale. Hope this helps. I am confident that you will find this tool very useful and ideally designed. I'm learning about importing pix, so hope I hav not screwed this up.

The extra tines to decrees the spacing to 4.5 inches looks like its only at the bottom. Shouldn't they also be added to the rear? Seems like the reason to add extra tines would be to keep smaller items from falling through but looks like they could still fall through the back. Am I missing something?
