Today I took delivery on a Harley T-5 that I found on E-Bay. The unit looks to be in pretty good shape and I can't wait to put it to work, however I have a couple of questions for any more experienced owners. I noticed that two of the carbide teeth are broken flush with their sockets. Can these be replaced? and if so, how? My unit has the hydraulic angle adjust. My Kubota B26 doesn't have a valve to operate rear hydraulics although it does supply fluid to the backhoe when its attached. Can I buy a valve and simply add it on to the rear somehow? Thanks

Did it have a bin of 3500? You going to need rear remotes to operate the power angle.

Matt;)

The cardbide bits should be replacable, Ive never done this bits on a tool like that, however carbide bits are silver soldered in the socket of most tools. The silver solder its self is friggin expensive as are the carbide bits. Not the cheapest thing in the world but if you have an O/A torch you should be able to do it.

I don't have anything more than a propane torch, but I was thinking that silver solder should melt at a pretty low temperature, no? I wouldn't mind spending a bit for replacement tips since this is a new (to me) toy. I paid $3000 plus some shipping. I may simply remove the angle control cylinder and replace it with an adjustable strut of some sort. I don't know what would be involved with adding rear hydraulic controls.

The carbide teeth on this type of rake are actually not solid carbide but rather carbide tiped pieces of steel. They are attached by welding. I was unable to locate a manual for the Harley Rake, bit if you follow this link you will come to a manual for a similar LandPride rake that details that out.

Yes, you can add a valve right into that "loop" for you backhoe. Lot's of threads on this in the Hydraulics forum.

SS will melt with a propane torch, BUT the problem will be that all the surrounding metal will absorb/dissipate the heat.

Thanks for the link to the Woods Unit Andy. It looks pretty much Identical to mine. Also thanks to Kenny for the advice, I think I'll look into adding a rear control valve. It may come in handy for other things.
