Kubota B2620
Getting a Kubota 2620 CUT and am putting a MMM on it. Dealer says he'll make me a great deal on a 54 incher but I think Bigger is Better. Is there any reason I would want the 54 over the 60 besides getting through an opening? Thanks in advance.

I have a B2320 and 60" deck, and I'm very happy with it. You might want to note that the anti-scalp wheels on the 54" deck require the removal of bolts to adjust while the 60" deck uses pins to adjust.

As little as the 60" sticks out past the wheels, I would wonder if the 54" does at all. I say get the 60" unless there is a gate or some fixed objects that require the 54".

He will make you a great deal because nobody want's it! Always go for the bigger mower...smaller uncut circles and the ability to trim closer to things are the two major reasons.

The only reason to go smaller is if you have a lot of obstacles too close together to fit the 60" and/or the tractor is marginal on hp, which isn't the case for you. The smaller might give you a little better cut too. But, I'd say go for the 60". He's just trying to unload old inventory.

60" all the way! You'll have trouble cutting close to stuff with the 54" and end up using a walk behind or string trimmer more than necessary.

I have never see a mower that sticks out past the wheels far enough.

I'm looking at the same issue with the purchase of a bx for my yard and I believe the 54" is a suspended deck while the 60" is a floating deck (rides on its own wheels across the lawn). Responses on other threads have indicated that you might get a better looking cut result with the suspended deck. If you have an uneven lawn the smaller suspended deck may also provide fewer scalping issues.

On my B2320, both of the decks are suspended, supported by linkage attached to the tractors. The anti-scalp wheels hover about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above the ground when adjusted properly. I believe that this is the same for the BX, but I have not researched that specifically. I do know for certain that they are both suspended on the B-series though.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I went with the 60 incher. I don't want to waste weed wacker line :D
