- Kubota B7100HST, International IH454, John Deere F910
Last week, I placed a pair of ads in the "wanted" section of my local Craigslist. I asked for a 1 or 2 bottom plow, and a dirt scoop.
I was happy to get a couple responses right away, and am even happier to have a Dearborn 2 bottom plow and a 24" dirt scoop on my trailer now!
I'm posting for advise, good or bad, about what to do with the plow. Actually, the scoop also. These are my first, besides the trailer hitch that I made.
My tractor is a Kubota B7100, 4wd HST, 16hp diesel.
I know for sure this dual 14" plow is waaay too much for what I've got. The pictures that were emailed to me looked similar to all the other plow pictures I've seen online, although there was really nothing in the photos to judge the actual size of the beast. After an hour drive, and knowing the seller was recently laid off, I felt the asking price ($100 each) was very fair and we loaded them up in my trailer.
Side Note: That FEL on their New Holland was really a fine tool. Lifted that plow like it was a feather!
Anyway, I'm hoping that some of you will agree with me, that I can remove one of the plows and use a single 14" with my Kubota. What should I do with the extra "wheels" and such?
Also, if you check out my pictures below, you can see the plows are missing the leading edge, and the bottom is a bit worn/rusted. I'm assuming these are meant to be wear parts that can be replaced, but are these things still available? What are they called? What do they cost?
Now, on to the dirt scoop. This thing is also nice and heavy, the latch mechanism works fine, but the pins you can see are mounted on the outside of the "ears" and they are very far apart, say around 34"! Would there be any harm in removing them and facing them inwards? Or are my 3 pt arms capable of spreading out that far?
Thanks for the upcoming advise!
Jim
