land pride vs king cutter?

HELLO TO ALL,
can anyone say how a 3 pt tiller in land pride
brand, compares to that same in king cutter
brand. a new TSC store just opened in my area,
and they had a good discount on a 6ft tiller, in
king cutter brand. so i bought one, tried it out, and
it does a great job. i just wondered about the difference in
models. comments anyone?

Like my KK 48'' for my 3 BXs just fine.

KK makes a VERY good tiller. VERY.

LP also makes a very good one, but also very expensive.

I have hundreds of hours on my KK with only minor issues.

(Hint:keep the bolts tight!!)

As far as strength and integrity, I'd have to rate both brands of tillers as excellent. The Landpride is obviously "prettier". (better paint job, fit and finish of metal work) but neither has a real advantage over the other in performance or durability. Both have subtle differences that may or may not lend themselves to being "the best" for everyone's individual needs. Price taken into account, the KK II is quite a bargain compared to most everything else on the market.

I would have to agree with farmswithjunk.

The King Kutter brand is extremely hard to beat when it comes to value. Although I will say that I think that a gear drive tiller, which King Kutter tillers are, is a better option than a chain drive tiller, every time. Still... the Land Pride brand of tiller is definitely very serviceable.

Nope. They are all chain drive, as near as I can tell.

Gear Drive tillers, while superior, are less common, when you consider brands of tillers made. Most are chain driven. In shear numbers... in the U.S., I would say gear drive tillers are probably more common than chain driven tillers, simply because King Kutter sells so many tillers.

I think you can get the KK in either or.

The KK II tillers are gear drive, NOT "either/or". The smaller (orange) KK tillers for subcompacts are chain drive, not "either/or". The OP asked specifically about 6' tillers. To the best of my knowledge, KK does NOT offer a 6'er in the smaller, light duty subcompact tillers, making any specs on those irrelevent in this discusiion. The comparisons between Landpride and KK II tillers don't take any other product into consideration, so "either/or" is not applicable

On gear vs chain. I don't think it makes a hill of beans of difference. Both will give years of reliable service. The difference is mostly from a marketing perspective.
