I just bought A 60" KK Tiller . While I was hooking it up to the tractor I noticed that the Tines only protrude past the side skid plates by about 3".
My understandind is that the tiller is supposed to till 6" to 7" deep. Won't the skid plates keep it from going into the ground to full depth? They are adjustable but the 3" is with them raised all the way up. This is probably a dumb question but the math just doesn't add up to me. I haven't used it yet since it is to wet. The unit seems well built and fits my B2920 Kubota perfect.
Any operational advice would be appreciated, thanks!

I've wondered about that on my 48'' kk too.

You are correct in that the KKII will only till 3" to 4" deep on pass #1 (in previously unworked soil) Second time through, the skids will work into the loose soil and get you additional depth. I usually plow THEN till when working garden or crop ground. My KKII 6'er will till to the axle in plowed ground.

I found real quick that the skid plates are a b$tch to adjusts, so I just pulled them up as far as they would go to allow for the deepest tilling. Then I just use the lift to pull it up for the first pass in unplowed ground.

Second pass it will go down so that that back gate is horizontal.

I got to try the KK tiller out tonight. The ground was a little on the moist side but I was eager to try out the new tiller. It worked just fantastic, and you guys were right, the second pass it dug deep.
I did have to cut the drive shaft down 2" to fit my B2920. Even in the moist soil in low she went right thru without a groan. I got the 60" tiller and it seems like a nice match for the B2920 Kubota. I am very happy with the choice and I must say this site was alot of help. Thanks all!
