Just curious for opinions. I have a Montana 3040, and a cirrus(sp?) 6 ft finish mower. Bought last may, and have had no problem with either. Today I lifted the mower up a few inches to go over a hose, and then after mowing for a minute looked back and the mower never went back down. I lifted it more thinking it was just stuck and now it is way high and wont go back down. All levers are all the way down, and it will go even higher if I lifted it more, but when I put the lever down, nothing, not even any noise like something is trying to work. I know I will have to call the dealer in town to come get it and fix it, just curious if anyone has any ideas, it could very easily be something simple, and I dont know where to look. I can do anything drivewise with my little MT, but I know nothing about working on it and that type of thing. (yes, I am a girl:) (beside checking fluids, although I usually dont, it went in for its first 50 hour checkup/tuneup in Nov. And I didnt use much in winter except for cleaning 4 stalls a day, so I have to be honest and say I havent checked anything since then. Just dont have a clue why it would still be working to go up as high as I ask, but cant come down?

Under the seat (between my legs) on my Branson there is a knob you can turn to speed up or slow down the descent of your lift arms. I am sure that your Montana has one as well. If this knob is turned all the way off your three point would either not go down or go down veerrrryyy slowly. Check that first.

Mark is right. I have a Montana 4340C and have hit the knobs many times getting in and out the of cab without even noticing it.
I think I have had the problem you have about 5 or so times since I bought the tractor. You have to turn the knobs back and lower the 3pt hitch control lever down. It usually takes a few minutes. I think you need to have the tractor running also.
Good luck

The knob you want is for flow control, check your manual to see which one it is. Understand though, that down pressure will freeze that valve. That means you have to put a jack or something under the mower to take weight off the lift arms. Once the down pressure is removed, the flow control valve should turn.

You guys are great:) I got out the manual, looked at the knobs, and lo and behold, all to way to the left says lock! I turned it to the right, click, mower came down:eek: I know my pant legs catch all the time too, and those and the other levers, so I guess that is what happened, just like you said, so simple:eek: Thanks for all the replies, that saved me 90 alone in trip charge to come look:)
