What are you using your rear remote hydraulics for?

I am looking at buying a 22-30 HP compact utility tractor and was wondering if I needed rear remote hydraulics. I am used to driving 100 HP farm tractors and the rear remotes are used to power lift cylinders on plows and disks or a to rotate a bailer or chopper chute. I obviously don't plan on doing anything like that with this little tractor.

So, what kind of smaller implements need rear remote hydraulics? If I added a sub-frame style backhoe, would it use the remotes, a separate pump, or a diverter valve?

Thanks!

I use mine on my TZ25 for the snowblower chute.

I use mine for my backhoe and plan on useing it for a rear toplink..

Some common uses are:

Snowplow angle
Snowblower chute rotation (mentioned already)
Grapple on the FEL
Hydraulic top link on the 3PH
Small dump trailers
Logsplitters

Just to clarify, I assume you're talking about additional remotes beyond those needed for top-n-tilt. Is that right?

How about hydraulic angle adjustment of a rear blade or landscape rake? Hydraulic positioning of scarifiers in a box blade (pretty hard to find in a BB that a 22-30 HP CUT can haul, I'll admit). Providing hydro power to a dump trailer? Do a search here for posts by 3RRL and you'll find all kinds of things you can do with hydraulics (and how to install 'em, too). I can't speak to the backhoe question.

P.S. (on edit) Kenny types, or thinks, faster than I do.

I use mine for a hydraulic post hole digger, splitter, grapple. Soon to have a top link!

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I should have searched first - there are a hundred threads on this subject!

How many remotes do you generally need for a backhoe?

One is "needed" for a backhoe, but more commonly they are powered via a "power beyond" loop. Basically it's a circuit that has the full flow of hydraulic oil through it whenever the tractor is running.

I have two sets on my KM454. One is used primarily for the hydraulic toplink, which in turn is used with quite a few of my implements. Including a log splitter, which then plugs into the second set of remotes.

In addition to the stock two for the loader, I added three out to the back of the tractor. Two are used for Top and Tilt, leaving one more available. When using my landscape rake, the third is split into two more, to power the swivel and offset cylinders. One of the three in the back is also plumbed parallel to the front, to swing the snowblower chute around. Someday I will get my grapple bucket fixed and working again, and will need to plumb lines on the loader frame to get the third circuit to the grapple cylinder. You can't have too many hydraulic circuits, its impossible.
