I'm attending an auction in early May that has among other things I am interested in a New Idea manure spreader advertised. I don't know which model and what shape it is. Guess I'll have to go by what I see.

Any idea what parts supply is like for New Idea manure spreaders these days?

I don't want to end up with something that there are no parts for.

New Idea is in the AGCO family, still in business. In general, parts availability should be good, although without knowing what model or how old it is, parts availability could also be just about nil. IMHO New Holland and New Idea box spreaders are the only two brands worth dragging home.

IMO the NH is ALOT better than the NI

But I would take a Knight/Kuhn over both

On the NI as long as it is new enough to have an all meatl box getting parts should be no problem

What about the Massey Ferguson spreaders? I've seen MF 130s that look like the are in pretty decent shape at the odd auction.

Another one I see is Schultz.

Bear in mind that my use of a manure spreader is really going to be limited to maybe a day or two once a year. With that in mind, there is only so much I can spend on it.

Would recommend any suggestions anyone has to offer.
