I was talking with a guy last nite who has a 6' slightly used bush hog for $850 and he said he thought it was a Bush Hog brand but wasn't sure. He did say it is a "Tiger Cub" and I googled that and came up with a lot of Scag equipment. I was wondering if anyone knows of this bush hog and if it is top quality.

I have heard that Scag mowers are great machines but know little about bush hogs. Second question is, I will be pulling whatever bush hog I get with my JD5203 so is 6' the max that the unit can pull safely? tks

I've never heard of a "Tiger Cub" brand or model shredder and it's not a model that the Bush Hog company makes. It's either a Bush Hog brand line that he can't recall or it's an off make that he generically referring to as a "bush hog."

JD 5203 is 48 PTO/56 engine horsepower. It could handle a 7' mounted or 8' pull-type shredder (due to weight) depending upon what you are cutting. It should have no trouble at all with a 6' mounted cutter.

tks Joe, I went and looked at the bush hog, and the only lettering on it is Tiger Cub model 654. It is a real good looking, heavy duty unit with much thihcker metal than a Howse that was sitting beside it. I believe I am going to get it but am going to do a little more research.

tks for your reply

Could it have been made by Tiger Mowers? They are now owned by Alamo Group, but still very much in business.

Well, mystery solved, it turns out that the Tiger Cub is a former Hardee model. Good solid built w/heavy steel so I bought it yesterday. Sitting besides a Howse, it looked like a giant in comparison. tks for all the input.
