Weather here has been so nice lately, we've been putting the garden in at a record pace....this is the first year we've had a 3pt tiller, and we're loving every minute of it. One thing that is getting old is making the rows by hand...I've seen the 3pt hiller attachments, but what I'm really looking for are pics or sources of a hiller attachment which replaces the "tailgate" on a tiller....where I'm going with this is I'd like to make my own to fit my 72" tiller...essentially one pass farming...till & make 2 rows in one pass...just pondering how to "get there from here".....

Attach a couple potato plows in the back? Attach 4 disc hillers?

Depends on what your tiller has to attach these to.

Here's a pic of mine, by attaching a couple 20" disc hillers to an old diamond bar from a JD M soil ripper.

Don't know how to post a thread link but there is a pretty good thread posted on 4/24/05 titled tiller mod that should give you some ideas.I don't think you want to "replace" the tailgate though.

They don't have good pictures of it but Agri-Supply have something they call a keulavator, It's modular and they have a version "for plowing middles or Building rows". It looks like it could easily be modified to do what you want or to get the parts you need.

Anytime you are working with anything spring loaded you do not have a firm depth control. It may affect how uniform your beds are. But as slow as I think you run with a tiller, do you get good dirt movement over either to form good beds?

I found a few years ago for garden the best way was to bed up my rows high and let them sit for a few days. Then when ready to plant run the same plow set up back through them to loosen the dirt and kill the sprouted weeds.

I just have a cement trowel welded to a piece of metal, bolted to my tiller's tailgate. It sticks down just a little from the tailgate when tilling and I have a perfect little V in each row when I am done. No pics available at this moment though.
