Here's another shot. BTW my battery on the JCB is on the back and up. So it's a snap to put the cables on and then drop the control into the cab.

Very nice rig Harv, thanks for taking the time to get the photos. I hope I can fashion up something similar, without the winch I would have to move the tractor around. Even though mine will only reach 16 feet I am sure that it would be safer for me to be stationary like you suggest.

PJ,
I thought about getting a pic of my winch setup today when I got home from work, but it's 90 degrees out there and the humidity is he!!. I can't do too much outside in the heat. Will try another day soon.

Good looking rig that "16ft boom pole".

Sent a picture to your insurance agent yet... ?
Might equal five speeding tickets...!
Just kidding: but of course it TOTALLY depends on who is operating it.

Great tool to harvest your neighbor's apples, and other fruit. on your side of the fence of course.

Do not look for manufacturers to jump on board too soon... a $60 boom pull and 600.000 lawyers... waiting in the wings.

I can think of a few politicians we can "hang out to dry on the end of this fine pole".

Don't take me too serious !

Happy Hobbying !

PJ,
Finally got around to being on the tractor and having a camera available at the same time.
Here's the boom pole that I rigged a winch on. I'll try to explain whats in the picture.
The pole seems to be very well constructed with 2 places to hook chains or in my case pulleys. I mounted the winch on the angled support. The cable runs up and through the 2 pulleys. You'll notice 2 cords coming out of the gray box. The Gray connector is for battery power. I have a #6awg cable with the matching connector on one end and jumper cable clamps on the other end. The Yello connector is a twist-lock connector that I plug the switch into for forward and reverse. Now the gray box.........well this particular winch had no reverse option(except for a $120 solenoid kit) and when I used to load my rider into the truck I felt I wanted to do it by way of winch in and out. So I got 6x6x4 SC electrical junction box and mounted 4 Ford starter solenoids in it. 2 work for in and 2 work for out along with the low amperage control switch with 25' cable to make it work. If you don't count the pieces and parts I already had laying around for the switch/solenoid combo the solenoids and box cost me about $40.

Just out of curiosity, that looks like a Wallace boom pole, correct?

Darn you PJ,
Since I had the pole all hooked up, there was a dead fruit tree that either needed knocked over or......hey maybe it needs uprooted by a winch/boom pole.
