Wallenstein BX42 or BX62?

Thanks all. I was taking the kids out to their softball game yesterday and drove by a dealer with a BX42. I was surprised how small it is....it almost looks like a "toy". From the pictures, which is all I have seen to date, I was expecting a bigger footprint! It isn't about footprint, and small is better, as long as it gets the job done. Sounds like people have no complaints.

Thanks again to all!

Oh the BX42 will get the job done. I'm kinda glad I got the smaller one, it's easier to take thru the woodlot. Here's vid of it from You Tube running on my Kitoti DK45 ... YouTube - Wallenstein BX42

I have used both the 42 and the 62, and now own the BX62. It is nearly twice as effective as the BX42. I have used the BX62 on my 62 hp tractor. The unit will take a 7-8 inch pine limb 12 feet in length, and chew through it in 10 seconds. The tractor has never bogged, or gotten into the governor. Don't waste your money on the optional hydraulic feeder. This unit pulls everything through on its own very well.

I have 4 slash piles each about 60 feet long, 30 feet wide and 15 feet high. Is it thinkable/efficient to handle it with a BX62, or should I just call in a dump semi with a hydraulic boom for $350 a load and have them load and haul it off. I could use the chips for landscaping, but I don't want to spend a week or two feeding a chipper while the sunshines.

Can you burn? Burning the scraps would be the quickest.

If this is a one time use and you can't burn, I would rent a large hydraulic feed chipper for a few days. It will be faster and more efficient than a small PTO chipper. It is surprising how fast a pile will disappear with a good chipper.
