Unhappy with Covington planter. Looking at Cole Powell. Sweettractors stopped selling them becuase of problems.

Anyone have any experience with the Cole Powell Multiplex 2 row corn planter?

I have a one row Powell Cole 12MX Multiflex that I bought second hand a few years ago . It works great for me . I borrowed an older Cole planter from a co-worker before I got mine and I have been a fan ever since !

These planters are very popular around here . They are pretty simple and parts are easy to come by . I don't think that you will go wrong with one .

How does it actually plant? Is it difficult to assemble? Is the depth adjustable?

Sweetractors stopped selling them because of problems with the plates.

Thanks for the input.

Rob,
The planter is pretty simple in design . There are various gear combinations to set seed spacing . There are simple settings for the amount of fertilizer per acre and changing seed plates is a breeze . All in all it is pretty simple to setup .

There are several different setups available . I have a 3 point htch toolbar setup .

Basically , the planter opens a furrow , drops the seed and covers the furrow .

Try taking a look at the Powell website at powellmfg.com

You can download the manual and it will give you a good idea of how they work .

Good Luck !
