Hey guys, I am looking for a decent finishing mower to cut about 8-9 acres of grass. Just bought 2 houses that connect to my land and I have to cut the grass. 42" lawn mower won't be sufficient. I know that I need a 6 0r 7 foot mower, but what brand? I had someone tell me about how cheap FarmPro's are but kind of worried about the "you get what you pay for" deal. I've had good luck with my bush hog rotary over the years but I never needed a finishing mower. Is the FarmPro even worth the 8-9 hundred bucks you pay for'em? Thanks for the comments and any advice!

When selecting any tractor implement, you must first consider the tractor horsepower (in this case PTO horsepower) and the lifting capacity of the hydraulics. Mahindra rates your 4110 rated at 33.6 PTO hp and has a max lift capacity of 2865 pounds. That doesn't sound right for a 3969 pound tractor, so perhaps that's a loader + rear lift spec.

Anyway, the 4110 should handle a six foot finish mower no problem. I run a seven footer behind my 454, but I've got at least 15% more PTO hp than you. I'm impressed with my First Choice GM35-84 as good value for the money. So you might want to take a look at their 72 inch model.

And even though I get great service out of my Chinese tractors, I will never ever buy another Chinese mower. So my personal opinion is to steer clear of that FarmPro mower. It's a loud whiny sounding thing with crappy rubber. By the time you put four decent tires and some good belts on it, you may as well have spent the extra bucks for something like a First Choice.

It may cost a little more but the Landpride has been very dependable for me. I mow about 7 acers every week , had a bush hog but really like the look of finish mower. It's easy to greese and adjust. Hook up about 2 minutes if you count backing the tractor up.

I have a Woods 6 ft rear discharge that I really like. The rear discharge is especially good if you let the grass get a little high as it has a much bigger area for the clippings to disperse.

If you go with LP then stay away from the 84in model!! The blade prices will kill you. Almost 4 times the price of blades for the 72 in model.

Thanks for the help everyone! Seems like everyone is a Land Pride lover. Talked to a buddy at church this morning that suggested Land Pride as well. I believe that is the way to go. Good heads up on the blades for the 84". Going to check with Agri-Supply to get a quote on the blades before I buy anything. Thanks!

I own 2 "Bush Hog" brand finish mowers. They are both rear dishcharge, which is the only way to go IMO. What ever you get, A front anti scalp wheel makes a big difference. I don't know cost wise vs. Land Pride, but Bush Hog makes excellent units. This will be your most used unit. Don't skimp here.

I mow 3 rough hillside, rocky treed acres. I started with a $1200 beautiful 6' Jolle? RFM that had welds so smooth you couldn't see them. It tore up and came apart alot. Dealer gave me my paid $1200 back toward the purchase of a Landpride 6' RFM with rear discharge. You can see all the welds and it's a tank. Small golf course level land probably won't matter which one you get but again, the Landpride "is the one for me".
