I'm in the market for a rotary cutter. I'll be using it for tall grass 90% of the time. My dealer is a Woods dealer and recommended the woods heritage unit. Either the 60" or 72" would be good. They also priced out the brushbull units and had nothing but good things to say about them. I was hoping to come across a used mx5 or flail mower but I really can't afford to wait too much longer. The heritage units look pretty good (better than KK) and I don't intend on cutting much brush. So I'd like to hear from some owners what they like and dislike about them. I also have a few landpride dealers around but they never seem too competativly priced with Woods. Are the frontier units anything special? They don't look to fantastic for the price. I've looked at all the units first hand and leaning towards the Heritage. So fire away!;)

Unless I'm mistaken, the Heritage series is the light duty model, correct? I think these were painted gray? If this is the light duty model, it should do fine for pasture mowing which is what it sounds like you have. I do agree with your comment about the KK mower though, I would rather have the Heritage mower rather than the KK mower.

IF you have some heavy duty cutting in mind, then you might want to look at the medium duty models. I used to have a 4ft Landpride and really liked that one, it was a medium duty mower that held up very well, but I sold it last year to get a 5ft mower.

I was just on the Woods site checking out the Heritage series. This appears to be a RFM and not a rotary cutter. Comparing a Heritage RFM to a Brushbull or a flail mower is not a fair fight. If you are going out to "hog a pasture" you are going to destroy a RFM.

Woods also makes a Heritage rotory cutter. I have aordered a 54" for my JD 2320. I will let you know when I get it. hopefully next week. I am cutting mostly grass too.

I stand corrected. I was just back on Woods website and found the Woods Heritage rotary cutter. I learned something. I'm a Woods guy all the way as far as their RFM mowers. I think no one does a RFM better than Woods. They are the best. I have owned a RM660 and now have a PRD7200 RFM. I have a 60" RCR1860 Landpride rotary brush cutter. This is a premium rotary cutter that I am very pleased with. The specs on the the Woods Heritage (60") are very close to the LandPride RCR1860.

I have the Woods Heritage 72" rotary cutter that I run with a 50hp kubota.
Its a standard duty unit. It will cut thick brush all day long and has on many occasions. Seems to be really well built. The 72" unit uses the 1/2" thick blades and comes with a slipclutch.

Well, I ended up getting the Woods brush bull 60". The dealer had the heritage and brush bull on a rack side by side and the BB was just so much more mower for about $200 more. The 72" unit just looked a little too big for the area's I'm mowing. Since I'm buying for my business I felt it was a better investment. I'm picking it up tommorrow and I'll be mowing 2ac on Sunday. I'll try an post some pics if I get a chance. I ended up paying $1500 for it which was the best price by $200. I was quoted $1400 but Woods recently had an increase by over $300. My dealer was cool and met me in the middle on the price.

Matt:rolleyes:
