I posted this in the Kioti forum but it's really not specific to Kioti since it's an aftermarket attachment and though it might get more responses here. I made a deal on a tractor a few weeks ago and called the guy back today after my loan closed yesterday. I found out he had been trying to contact me(confirmed on my voice mail) to tell me he was having a problem with the 4n1 bucket. He says it is only partially operating. He tells me he was told by WR Long that the new valve system would possible have to be replaced and that would cost about $1000. From my understanding, the entire thing brand new was this price so I'm not sure if that is completely true. He doesn't think it's his hydraulic system itself because his 3pt is working fine. Anyway, he doesn't want to sell it if he has to put that kind of money in it. The price we agreed on is a thousand less than he was asking originally, so maybe I'm a conspriacy theorist, but I'm starting to think someone offered him more or he's changed his mind about selling. If the bucket is truely having troubles, would the whole valve system need replacing, or would it most likely be a solenoid, etc.?

Hard to answer without more information...
You could ask him to explain what the problem is OR better yet call WR Long and have them tell you what the problem is all about...
In any case follow up on this post to tell us... KennyV

Sounds suspicious to me...but I always expect the worst so as not to be disappointed.

If the bucket is really only partially opening, I would suspect a bad or mis-seated QD before I would suspect the valve.

The WR Long kit (in it's entirety) cost's only $650 or less, and just the valve if it's bad would be under $150.

Update:
I called the manufacturer and was told basically what you guys said, that it was most likely a part and almost definitely wouldn't need a complete replacement. I then called the seller and could tell pretty quickly he had changed his mind about selling it. He tried to say he wouldn't feel right about selling it knowing it had a problem, but after grilling him for a little bit, he finally admitted he had changed his mind about selling it.

I'm not sure on the parts pricing but I'll tell that I just priced out a 4 in 1 from Long. It was over 2k new.

Matt;)
