So my boxblade came in yesterday.
I mentioned before that a company building AG equipment offered to build a boxblade according customer spec for about 450$.
With my paddock renovation project under time pressure i decided to ask for the "normal" version and not bother with extra features.
Had it made 55inch wide to nicely cover the tire track. To my surprise all material is 10mm thickness (0.4inch) and the beam that holds the acarifiers made of 2 welded hot rolled U profiles.
It came in green, although the guy knew i have an iseki and not a JD....
Scarifiers are self made, not commercial types. No idea why but i was pulling them deep through packed ground with lots of stones in it as a first tests and they hold up to the limited power of the tractor.
We had a little discussion about the front blade not being long enough, It stops about 1 inch above the bottom level of the side plates. He took me to a big boxblade as they normally produce, this was done exactly the same. They make it that way to allow you to bold on a hardened blade or rubber blade or whatever you want so you can easily replace the blade when it is worn out.
With our rocky grounds everywhere they went to this system as otherwise they had to replace the blades (cutting and welding that is) too often. Not good for them and the customer. Point taken and accepted, I'll bold on a bottom piece shortly.
Weight is just below 250kg, 550 lbs. With the blade edge as it is now it can use more weight on the back although i think it will be fine once the cutting edge extension is in place.
Overall and after a first try-out: very well build and yes a boxblade should have been the first implement to buy. Where it took me hours and hours trying to "shave" of the toplayer of the paddock with the fel i moved almost 4 times more in the same time after a run-over with the boxblade.
