Hey all.

Picked up a Light Duty Grapple Rake from Markham Welding. They were easy to deal with. Called them, ordered it, came in a week. Nice doing business with them.

Here are some pictures of my first task - playing with the woodpile.

The next day, I used it to move a big old pile of brush into my dump trailer.

Nice piece of equipment and really fun to use!

Great looking grapple. How did you plumb the hydraulics?

lhfarm - thanks.

I originally went to my NH dealer and they wanted $584 to run the hydraulics. When I asked them for specifics, they were simply going to run two lines from my rear remotes all the way to the front boom. HA! Not a chance I was paying that.

I went to Discount Hydraulic Hose.com and ordered the two lines with the pipe crimped on and quick disconnects for each end. Total with shipping cost me $130. 20 mins and some cable ties finished the job.

I wish I had the ability to post pictures...I love my Markham - I plumbed it the same way as you did.

They are a handy beast to have around...

Just curious, how did you measure for the hoses?

Thanks,

Thanks,

When I plumbed mine, I used some left over clothesline, ran it like I would run the hydraulic line. Make shure you tip the bucket, then mark and measure the cord.

Measure twice, cut once.

Sorry - was off for a couple of days.

I used an extension cord and ran it the exact path I wanted it to take and then measured it. Then, I added two feet extra to make up for the fact that the bends in the hydraulic hose are a larger arc than with an extension cord. That two feet addition was key and it fit perfectly.

Someone else suggested using garden hose as a mock-up for measuring the length of hoses to make. I tried it and it worked great since it's about the same size as hydraulic hose and behaves more or less the same when one moves the bucket, 3PH or whatever one needs to account for.

I used the garden hose method...
