| Re: Toothbar or No Toothbar? I have a small JD2305tlb and I thought long about adding a toothbar, since I like the finished look after backdragging I was reluctant and didn't think I could get the result I wanted with the toothbar on.Then I began a road/trail project that involved digging shale with large rocks embedded. The toothbar has proven its worth and is very helpful in breaking up the shale as it approaches from below and can sometimes get under a slab where the backhoe cannot. It makes my small machine more effective and is easier on me and my tractor. I have since learned to smooth using the heel of the bucket, takes a little practice. I keep the toothbar on all the time now. Hope this helps. Mark

| Re: Toothbar or No Toothbar? I don't know about on a FEL but on my skidloader a the tooth bucket made it a completely different machine. Hard dirt, soft dirt, backdragging, digging rocky soil, mud, it is all better with the tooth bucket.
I wouldn't/couldn't be without one.

| Re: Toothbar or No Toothbar? I just finished my Tooth bar today. I always wondered if I needed it. My first dig into the ground pulled up my sprinkler lines. So I guess it works good. |

| Re: Toothbar or No Toothbar? I bought my BX2350 a year ago. Even before delivery I asked the dealer to weld two grab hooks on each end of the loader. They are the cheapest attachments I've made to the CUT.
But for the most useful, my vote is a tooth bar. I tried to find an easy way to buy a W.R. Long, but in the end I bought from Markham. No regrets. None. Whether you make one for yourself or buy one, just do it. It can be remove it in no time, but truth to tell I haven't had the need.
I'll probably remove it in late fall when I mount my Loftness 3ph snow thrower and wait for the white stuff.

| Re: Toothbar or No Toothbar? after doing some hard digging without it, I noticed the bucket starting to bend; I got a toothbar, and due to the slight bend it the lip it was a bit difficult to install, so I hesitate to remove it. If you do a lot of soft digging, scooping on cement, and leveling I wouldn't use one

| Re: Toothbar or No Toothbar? Thanks for all your input. Based on your replies and pix, I'll be getting a removable Markham toothbar and hooks. I'll get 2 hooks; from your picture, looks like they are positioned just outside the FEL arms. Rather than get just one, which I thought was all I needed, till I looked at the picture and figured 2 were alot better for stability and strength. Thanks again. This site is so valuable! |

| Re: Toothbar or No Toothbar? Looks like just a couple more things that I need to get. Where were all you guys while I was working up my shopping list last month? Oh ya... you guys were all here and I was the one not here... GEESH!
At least I was smart enough to get the heavy duty box scraper.
