I'm looking for a new 72" PTO rotary tiller. Tractor Supply has a new CountryLine brand but I'm a little leary of new models. I've heard that Maschio equipment is one of the best but they don't seem to want to call me back. Can any of y'all give some good recommendations? Thanks,

Jon

I won't comment on what the "best" rotary tiller is as I am sure that would open up the 55 gallon drum of comments, but I have a Land Pride RTA3576. I have only used it for this planting season. It appears to be a good heavy unit and works well in both the old clay and in turning over new sod (you will have to go over it several times). I probably put 10-15 hours on it with no issues. I hit some pretty nice rocks turning over the new sod, but it just kept on going.

I'm looking for a new 72" PTO rotary tiller. Tractor Supply has a new CountryLine brand but I'm a little leary of new models.

Countryline tillers are King Kutter tillers with different decals. Period. Same assembly line, same parts. They even have King Kutter serial numbers. Call King Kutter customer service if you need further proof.

The King Kutter tillers are well respected values. You can spend a lot more on a tiller and it might be worthwhile if you are a commercial farmer but for most uses the standard King Kutter tillers work just fine.

I have a LandPride tiller and love it. Is it the best? I don't know, but I do know that LandPride will ALWAYS be my first option when it comes to implements. I have one of their 48 inch core aerators on order right now. LandPride is definitely not cheap but it is VERY well made and it's "made right here in America". With all of that said, I have yet to meet an owner of KingKutter equipment that didn't feel they got their moneys worth. Good luck and let us know what you get and how you like it! :p

I have woods. I don't know which is best, but it isn't woods. Their equipment is usually great, but this is rebadged italian junk at woods prices.

From what people say on here, I wish I'd known about the king kutter.

Another vote for Land Pride here. I have a buddy that has one, not sure of the exact size though. Anyway, that thing is built very well and built right here in the USA. He's had no problems that I know of and it does a great job.

I've owned a KKII 72" tiller for 4 years. This year, I not only did my garden, but I also tilled several areas of native soil where I wanted to take 6" of topsoil off with my FEL. Even though I hit several football-sized rocks, the tiller did fine with no signs of any damage. If the Countyline stuff is KK rebadged, then I think you will have no problem with it.

Whatever tiller you buy, be sure the gearboxes are filled with the recommended oil, the tiller is greased, and the slip clutch adjusted before first use. These things are not done by the dealers. The gearboxes are shipped dry.

After first use, go around the tiller and check fasteners. All of them are subject to a lot of vibration and bolts loosening with use. My gearbox cover needed tightening on my KKII. I notice a small seep and took care of it before it got to be a problem.

I try to get just about anything I buy at a place that gives good service on their product or the products they represent. Distance to get anything serviced is another consideration. I live a ways out and hate driving any more than I have to.

Most dealers can get a good variety of tillers and other attachments. I bought a Land Pride from a reputable dealer because I feel it was the beefiest tiller I looked at and it's made in the USA with a 5 year warranty on the transmission. Yeah, it cost a little more but it fit my needs.

In June I bought a CCM SR 185. I have not had the time to use it yet but I can tell you it is HEAVY DUTY. It weighs 1100 pounds, 300 hundred more than the other heavy duty tillers I looked at and it shows! I cannot say if it is the best, but I shopped and did a lot of research and feel it was the best for the price.

If I had to spend MY money it would go to CCM or the KK II units. CCM will give you better custmer support. bjr
