I was surfing kijiji this evening and found this ad two row corn planter for only $40. Seems like a deal.

That's a Massey Ferguson #39. I know of a guy who'd give $100 or more for just the fertilizer hopper!

I thought this was a great deal. If it were not a four hour drive from here I'd pick it up myself. This planter is somewhere in the Niagara Falls area of Ontario.

I noticed it said St. Catherines. Hmmm. The distance factor by fuel, vehicle wear and your time is the next calculation. $100 for fuel, a day used...

Last week I actually pick up a 6 row JD flex 71 planter. Complete with fiberglass hoppers, lots of seed plates, fertilizer boxes. I found the planter on-line. To make a long story short, I ended up trading a few rocks (yes, the kind I grow in my garden) for cash which ended paying for the planter. In the end my total cost was the trailer rental ($65) plus fuel. Now I get to make a 2 or 3 row planter with parts to spare. There are deals out there just have to keep looking.
