I have not used that grapple, but purchased other things from W R Long. Their service and customer relations were excellent. Nice people.

Why a bolt on grapple when you have a JDQA setup already? Drop the bucket, pick up grapple and go:D

The Markham LD-48 is about $1000 with the JDQA setup. Search "Markham" and "LD-48" Here is mine:

I would have to agree with kennyd. I don't know how much the Long bolt on costs, but a dedicated root grapple such as Markham's will out perform any bolt on grapple bucket hands down. I am sure a bolt on grapple would serve some purposes, but a Markham grapple is by far, the addition to my implement collection that is more useful than any other, if you have land clearing, chain saw work, or brush removal to do. It even digs pretty well. My bucket sits in my barn waiting for that occasional pile of gravel or dirt to scoop up and move, whereas my grapple stays on my tractor full time. If you ever try one, I doubt you could disagree with me.

Kenny as always your input puts a spin on my thought process..... but the ld 48 is much to heavey for my 4300 at 385 lbs. I can get the double tooth grapple witch is around 230 lbs. or the single at 145 lbs. on a machine with only about 1250 lb lift capasity I need to be careful... how ever if i had a 40+hp machine I would go for it all the way. actually i probley would have ordered the wr long than read your suggestions and sent it back.

I really like my loader arm grapple. Stays on all the time. I use it with forks and with bucket.

It is NOT to heavy...your bucket alone weighs in at about 200lbs, so you are only "adding" 185 or so. With your lift capacity at 1250lbs, there is plenty of capacity left.

My tractor is smaller than yours! The 4110 is a small-frame CUT with 20HP, and a lift capacity of just under 900lbs and it handles the grapple just fine, The pictures on the Markham site are mine.

There are plenty of others here with the same or similar setup. The Markham LD-48 or the WR Long OBG2 would be a perfect match for your machine...I promise.

Search the grapple threads...use these terms for HOURS of reading:

Markham
Millonzi (pretty much the same as the Markham, but they are out of business now)
LD-48
OBG2
