is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I found one at a neighbors but after thinking it over he decided to keep it. I found one on Craigs list and it sold the same day it listed. While on vacation I spotted two at a guys house so we stopped by and asked if he was interested in selling one of them, but no luck there either. All the ones I am finding on e-bay are pretty far away. I found one the other day a Case but the guy wants $1350 for it and it is all rusty. I am wanting to find one by fall for my Dad to plow with. It is a surprise for him as all he talks about is how he would love to run an old 3 bottom plow for a day or 2. He talks about the old model 16 International plows and the old Case plows, So that is what I am trying to find. I am not sure he could run a rope trip plow with his arthritis in his shoulders so it has to be a cylinder type plow. If anyone has any ideas where on might be in my area I would be very interested in it.

Same problem here! I really want a good 3 bottom plow. If you think it's hard to find one where you live, you should try S.C. Plows just don't exist around here. Like you, I have looked many places. I found over 20 listed for reasonable prices at sweettractors.com. They have an extensive listing of used implements. I think they are located in Kentucky, so maybe it's close enough to you to drive, or freight may not be too bad. They can give you a freight estimate. I wish I were a little closer to them. Keep us posted in your search. Before you buy, you may want to research parts availability on specific models. I bought an older Ford plow, and some parts seem to be unavailable, such as landslides and shins. Plowshares seem a little easier to find, but still difficult in some cases. I would look for a plow that has parts still readily available, and that may take some research. I just listed another thread detailing one source of plow part information, that I found helpful. Hope this helps.

Finding one close all depends on the type of farming area you are living in. If It's mostly large farms it may be a long time finding.:D

My neighbor has about 5 or 6 plows for sale. We are located in North Central Missouri. Shoot me a PM if you are interested. I will hook you up with him if you want.

Keep an eye on local farm auctions. I just passed one last weekend that sold for less than $100. Looked great, just no one wanted it that bad I guess.

I'm in SC myself and I drive by a rusty 3 bottom plow everyday to & from work. It's been sitting in the exact same spot for all of nearly 5 years (when I started my present job) without being moved so much as one inch. No idea if it's for sale or not, it seems to be more for yard art now than a useful tool. :(

Hope this helps.

Do you have two userids? Not that it matters to me but I get a little confused. I have enjoyed reading plow treads.

I picked up a Dearborn Disc Plow but have not had time to use it.

There is a dealer in Central Illinois that has close to 50 plows on his lot. I can't think of his name. But he is just east of Biggsville on US 34. You might try and call the Library in Biggsville and you might get one of the ladys that knows his name so you could call. Sorry, but the best I can do at the moment.

Kebo, I just committed to buying one (sight unseen!!) from an older farmer in Chapin near Lexington. Saw it listed in a classified ad and since I just broke my 2 bottom, I am desperate to find one. Man, I hope that old rusty piece of yard art isn't the one I have agreed to buy! I asked this old gentleman if he could e-mail me a picture before I drive all the way down there, but he just laughed! Guess he isn't into technology! I am taking a gamble, but hopefully it will be a decent one. I am going down Friday to buy it and pick it up. I hope the one you see isn't in Chapin.

You should ask the owner of that plow if it's for sale, or at least see what model it is. They are getting hard to find and no one makes a decent one anymore. What little I have used mine really showed me how effective it is to break up hard packed dirt that my disc just rolls over. I just need one with some trip protection for that hidden rock, and I learned to slow down and not get in too big a hurry with my old one. The repair will be cheap, but breaking loose 60 year old bolts required some serious hammering.
