I need to reverse the direction of my pto on my kubota bx1860. I have searched this site and the web and can't seem to find anything. Anyone know where I can find such an adapter. Seems pretty simple. Otherwise I will take my free snowblower apart and try to fix that end of it. Thanks!

Which way does your snow blower need to turn? clockwise or counter clockwise?

My pto turns clockwise and the snowblower turns counterclockwise. I need to change the direction of either one - PTO to counter or blower to clockwise. I am also open to replacing the gearbox on the blower. If I did do that the pto side would need to turn clockwise and the right angle output would need to be counter clockwise. Thanks!

If you put the snow blower behind the tractor, and look at the PTO shaft, it is turning clockwise, now, take a shaft and connect the two, and if you turn the shaft at the tractor PTO end, it is turning clockwise, and at the snow blower, the shaft is turning counter clockwise, because the snow blower is facing the PTO shaft. That is the way it is supposed to work. .

Hub City, who is no longer making these, made PTO adapters for changing direction and speed if necessary. They can be found on Epay from time to time. They are common on some antique tractors like the Farmall Cub.

Ha, ha, ha ha! JJ, I read your post and thought, who is this guy? Does he think I am some sort of idiot? Then a lightbulb went on. The last time I thought someone had to be a complete idiot (other than when I was driving) I was looking at him in the mirror. So, I did something high tech. I took a pencil and rotated it. Oh my gosh! You are so right. My turn to be a doofus today. Gees, I can't believe it. I need to go drink some of the wine from my vineyard. Holy crap, I am laughing hysterically! I almost peed in my pants. I can't stop laughing. My eyes are blurring with laugh tears. Thanks!

Thanks, Your response made me laugh also. The very same thing confused me a while back, and I had to convince myself that it did in fact change direction, not thinking that l on all shaft driven machines, the rotation is determined by looking at the shaft, and when you have shaft to shaft, the rotation of one has to be opposite.

In reference to the above. I had to purchase a hydraulic motor, and when I looked at the engine, I thought clockwise, so I had to special order a clockwise turning hyd motor, at $333.00 , and then, because of this lack of knowledge, I had to reorder the correct hydraulic motor, which turned opposite the shaft rotation, for another $333.00.

I Just happened to notice this thread and for Ideas, here's a photo of the one I used on Max. It was a commercially built unit that I found in Canada several years ago. It can be front mounted as this one is, or rear mounted. I front mounted it so I didn't have to remove it to run the bush hog on the back in summer. The pto sprocket just runs on the backside of the chain so it drives the shaft to the blower in the opposite direction. As you can see, it's pretty simple unit and shouldn't be hard to fabricate.
