Ford 207 Disc Harrow Parts & Questions

I managed to figure out my disc, mostly. I suspect there is a setting or two I need to know about, but I added weight and it does (did) a great job killing all the weeds and breaking up the soil.

Then ....

a repair weld I was unaware of when I bought it broke, as a result the front right disk axel snapped and I ended up with parts spread over about a 100 yard by 6' part of my field. I think I found most of the missing parts, but I'll certainly have to replace a few.

The axel was round, but some of the discs have square holes. I should be able to figure out the length and diameter from the other axel, and I suspect I should use round hole discs with a round axel.

The disc is a Ford 207 I believe. I think Ford is out of the attachment business, so my first question is: who sells Ford disc harrow parts?

I notice some discs are 'notched'. Mine are smooth. Why are there notched and smoothed discs?

Think you will find NH dealership will have parts but disk parts are some of the easiest there is to find. Take bearing with you to nearest tractor supply store and they may have them. Never had a disk with round axle but would think came from factory with blades with round holes but it snug think square holes would be OK.

In our part of the world most blades on the front of the disk are notched and the rear ones solid. If you are disking over crop trash or grass or such the notched blades do a better job of cutting through it. Often the solid blades will let it slip and not cut it. You do give up a tiny amount of cutting of the soil with the notched blades and if you will be only disking clean land may prefer the solid blades all around.

Be careful in handling used blades they can be very sharp. I find a big impact wrench to be great working on a disk and best way to tighten up an axle. But do use it a little and tighten the axle and be sure you use a lock to prevent the nut from backing off.

Couple of points: on bearings there are those made in North America and normally most expensive, those made in Japan and those made in China, for me the China bearing cost the most...when you have to replace them real often the labor is very costly. Stay away from them. On the blades, know the thickness of the blade you are pricing, thicker is stronger and higher price. There is also some difference in specs of strength if you can even get that spec.

As to disk settings, the great the angle of the blades normally the better they cut.
