Hadn't seen such a small one, they are typically 16, 20, or 30 feet wide.
After planting - corn or beans - you can go over the crop after it has poked through the ground. Drive fast. Duck from flying rocks! It takes out tiny weed seedlings, without hurting (much) the row crop. Won't do anything to big weeds, but just tiny seedlings. Mostly for the couple weeks after planting.
If you plant into clay soils, get a hard rain, and the clay crusts over as it dries, the crop might not be able to break out of the ground. If you go over the ground with this it will break up the clay crust, allowing your crop to emerge.
Pretty much what they did, not useful for leveling or working up soil in anything but the finest of conditions - after planting.
Herbicides have _greatly_ reduced their use.....
