Hi all,

I am getting ready to buy a new rear blade but have had a rude shock at the prices of them nowadays. I would really like to be able to afford and justify a fancy Buhler or Land Pride but cannoot.

I am looking at a 8ft blade and have come across Braber Equipment - a company I have never heard of before. Their blade is supposed to be heavy duty, but doubt that it is. However, the one I can afford has five angle settings - forward and reverse and three position settings for tilt - nothing for offset and all manual positioning.

My needs are basically driveway maintenance (350 yds), snow clearing and some landscaping work.

Anyone heard of or own a Braber blade and if so, what have you found - pro's and cons.

Thanks

Jim.

I have there 5' heavy duty box blade, in 100hrs I have bent all 5 rippers to noodles, & box blade is bent every which way but loose. They are 100% Chinese made. If used lightly they might be fine, anything else no way..

Joe,

I went ahead and bought one and it was 1/3 of the cost of a Land Pride. It isn't the quality of LP but should do what I need. Also, the blade can be offset by moving the blade along the holder - there are extra bolt holes to allow this to be done. So I do have all three functions/adjustments so all I gotta do now is try it out. It lloks to be Ok for a Chinese made blade _ I am not expecting it to be anything special, just fuctional will be just fine.

I picked it up from the supplier this afternoon and have just put it on the tractor ready to try it out.

Thx

Jim

Cool...
If you don't get crazy you should be just fine. I snagged some seriouse stuff to bend my BB up. So you got the back blade..? Does the blade have the capability to flip or bolt it on backwards, if so, try that when you do some finish work on driveway, gravel road.dirt road etc..I would think it would work just like top link extended way out & BB heavily tilled on to the back reverse blade in which works excellent,

Well, I got to play with the new rear blade ofr about an hour and a half last night.

First, the locking pins are all too small - 5/8" pins in holes meant for 3/4" pins. That needs to be fixed as everything is a bit sloppy 'cause of that. Other than that the blade worked just fine. It is pretty light as blades go and I need to add a couple of hundred pound to the frame (spare front tractor weights will do).

The blade sure does leave a nice finish with gravel and dirt. I didn't realize just how wavy my driveway surface was - both across and lengthwise. I tried with the blade reversed and boy, does it ever give a nice finish. I still need to get the blade angle (top link length) right and of course, having the blade bottom just clear of the ground level required, to skim off high spots first and then work from there. I can see loads of use in the upcoming months - including moving snow from the front of the garage and workshop.

The two main gripes I can see are the blade height is only 14" where 18" would have been better. Weight is only 340lbs - again more would be better I think, say 500+ lbs. For the money though, I think it will do all I need to do.
