I did not make any progress this fall. Might take it up again in the spring but not before as my tractor is currently hibernating.

No, I think about it occasionally but I don't even use the thumb anymore. I used it a lot when I first started ripping out trees but I've pretty much cleared those trees now and I don't really need a thumb for the general digging work I typically do with the BH.

The thing that stymied me was finding the right hydraulic cylinder. It really has to be a near perfect match in length to avoid doing damage. The hydraulics are not such a big issue though there would be some expense involved.

I don't remember if I did or not. Good idea though. They must sell them as replacement parts.

MIE sells a hydraulic thumb for the woods BH, you should be able to get hoses/valves/cylinder from them.

Thanks Jim. I got my ripper from MIE so I know them well. If I decide to reactivate this project I'll give them a buzz.
