I have a Kubota B21 and I was wondering if it can handle a 6 foot box blade (Countyline)? Before I buy one, I want to make sure the tractor can lift it. I wanted a larger one to move more loose dirt around in the least amount of time. I should be able to move snow around with no problem. Thanks in advance.

As I recall, the lift cap for the B21 3-pt is just under 1000#, so you
can lift 6-ft BBs if they weigh less than that. Most BBs without
hydraulic-controlled rippers will be less than that, unless you get a
heavy-duty one.

Question is SHOULD you put a 72" BB on a B21? I think that you
stand a good chance of damaging what is a fairly light-duty 3-pt.
Your lower 3-pt arm pins are small, and supported on only one side,
and the arms themselves are thin.

I put a 66" BB on a Kioti CK20, a tractor that weighs the same as a B21,
but has a somewhat stronger looking 3-pt. I would not go wider, but
heavier is OK. It was about 500#.

Check you owners manual to see what the specs are. I know for my M5040 it recommends the largest box blade is 6ft. It may handle it but you may have issues with having to dump the load because your tractor will not pull it.

Maube others with that size tractor can weigh in.....

I suggest you go with a 4' BB for that small of a machine, I would suspect that you would spend more time coming to abrupt stops versus getting work done.

I put a 6' box blade on my B7800 and although I could lift it, it was way to big for ground engagement work, took it back and exchanged for a 5' box blade and it's much better. I would go no bigger then 5' on a B21.

Z,

I've spent the last two days tearing a driveway and moving gravel with a JD 2210. Granted a 2210 is about half the weight, but published HP is comparable and I'd say emphatically that 6' is too big.

For me even when that 4 footer fills up with gravel that tractor works hard and with rippers even partway down the tractor can certainly grind to a halt. With that BB and material, I can run out of power just as often as I run out of traction.

For what it's worth.

I think you will be able to move more dirt with a 5' bb than a 6'bb, the
B 21 just doesn't have enough power to handle a 6' boxblade at a higher ground speed. Traction would be your second problem.

Kubota recommends a 54" box blade.

I think a larger blade is likely to accelerate tire wear due to traction issues.

For years I have used a 5' box on my B21 and that would be my recommendation to match the tire width. Even a with a 5' box you will run out of traction at times. A 6' would be too much in my opinion.

My B8200 is same size, about same weight, minus 1-2hp.

No, a 6' blade will have you spinning the tires, unless they are weighted/filled.

I have a 5' box, which covers the footprint of my back tires perfectly. I can not pull a 3/4 or more filled box. No traction, even when I use 4x4 and the diff lock. Even with an empty box, if rippers dig in, I stop. Sit there spinning the tires.

I would not get anything wider than your back tires.
