Another thing to be aware of is that the shredder can really snatch certain types of small branches and vines! Don't hold on and make sure they are not wrapped around your arm.
I spent at least an hour feeding mine grape vines over the last week.
The chipper will get smaller after you have used it a few times, but it does not get any quieter! | Hey, some supervising is neccesary when you just bought the thing...I just spent plenty of money, I want to watch it work a for at least a few minutes.
I'll keep that in mind about it grabbing. Quote:

One thing I found, and other owners of Wallenstien chippers have found is that the knives on the chippers are sometimes not set properly from the factory, and that has caused some feeding issues. You might want to check yours after using it a bit. Hmm, think I'll go out, and fire up mine. I've got a little more chipping that I would like to do before the snow comes. | A bigger tractor is on my list, no question. I was going to trade in my 2230 a year ago or so, and the dealer was offering a great deal, but I really need the small tractor as well so I plan on buying a tractor with at least 30hp in a year or two.
It seems to be cutting fine, although the amount of vibration coming back through the branches is suprisingly high. All I have ever used before are hydraulically fed standalone units, and I imagine the feed rollers damp most of that out. |

| Re: Thinking about a BXM32 for my BX2230 I was just kidding about the tractor. I think your plan of keeping it, and adding a larger one is a good one though. The amount of vibration that you are seeing seems to be normal. They sure feed better than some chippers that I've worked with though, and for the price are very good units. Cutting down the gap between the moving knives, and the fixed one does reduce that vibration some since the chipper takes smaller bites, but it won't be a huge change.
