I've been looking for a narrow bucket to use on my Woods BH750 backhoe for trenching and other jobs where my 24" bucket is just making a very big mess right now. I came across an ebay listing for a Woods 37712 12" bucket, brand new with three digging teeth. I have confirmed w/ Woods it will fit on my backhoe w/ the correct pin kit (thanks again Messicks). The bucket is gonna run $275 shipped to the closest terminal and the pin kit another $75.

Here is a pic of the bucket;

Do you guys think this would be a good narrow bucket to compliment my 24" digging bucket? I'm looking to use this bucket near the house foundation to trench drainage lines, dig smaller holes for tree planting... etc. Should I look for something even smaller or locally??

Thanks,

I've got this bucket (I don't know if it's the same # but it's a 12") on my Woods bh and don't think I'd really want anything narrower. A narrower bucket would be more difficult to empty the spoil from IMHO. If I had a large amount of trenching to do to just lay 4" drain lines or similar I think I'd rent a trencher instead. But for the more limited runs I've used the 12" for it's worked just fine.

Thanks,
I use a 12" bucket on my Bradco 11MD2 - have only dug stumps so far. It is a good size for stumpin' and I would think it would be good for trenching. That bucket would probably be 6 to 7 hundred bucks plus shipping new.

Yeah, I agree.
That's a really good price for that bucket. I too use the 12" for stumping and trenches. I have an 18" wide bucket for larger digging jobs, but I've found the 12" to be very handy for most everything except the larger digging projects. In fact, it's on my hoe more than the 18" one.
With your 24" bucket, the 12" will be a nice compliment for your hoe.
