Default Speeco Splitmaster Wood Splitter?

I would like to purchase a 3 point hitch wood splitter for my Kioti CK20HST tractor. I would like to know if anyone has experience with or knowledge of the Speeco Splitmaster wood splitter sold through Tractor Supply. It appears to have many features that appeal to me. I would like to know how it operates with the GPM of your tractor and how much does it weight? Are you satisfied with the implement and would you purchase the unit again or buy another wood splitter?

Thanks for your response and any information you share.

Hi Dave - welcome to TBN from north central MD

Many folks are perfectly happy with this splitter. Good is that you have one fewer engine to maintain and a lower initial cost. Bad is that they're a bit slower and weaker than classic stand-alone splitter. They also tie up your tractor when using. Not so bad for manageable sizes, but a pain for larger chunks that you could otherwise load onto the splitter with loader. 3-point lets you get the splitter low to the ground - maybe allowing you to roll the big pieces onto the splitter.

Let us know how you make out.

Mike

Works excellent behind my KM454, but I'm thinkin' the flow rate of your Kioti pump might be less than mine (20 l/min), I run the splitter just fine at ~1100 RPM

Don't remember the exact weight, but think it's in the neighborhood of 400#. And yes, I'd recommend it to any consumer. Pretty sure thought, that commercial users would want something with a faster cycle rate. Never considered buying another one though, this one so far has been virtually bulletproof.

Mike apparently doesn't realize that this is a vertical/horizontal splitter with its own integral stand. For the big stuff that I can't manhandle to the tray, I rotate the splitter to the vertical position. Bust'em up into manageable pieces, while they're still on the ground. When all the big chunks are split to a size I can lift, then I rotate the splitter back to horizontal operation.

One shortcoming - since fixed at a local welding shop. The stand is a bit wobbly on irregular and soft surfaces. Horizontal leg braces about a foot above ground level stabilized it nicely.

Yup - I had in mind that it was another type that let you put it flat on the ground...
