1966 JD 2020 HU Diesel
I recently purchased a 1966 JD 2020 HU Diesel as a hobby tractor to be cleaned up. It is in good shape and it seems to all work. I want to get a JD loader that was appropriate for the mid 1960s.
seaching the net I think my options are JD37 / JD 46 / JD 48 / JD 146 / or JD 148. I can pretty much guess that the larger the number the bigger the capability but I cannot seem to find out much more information. Does anyone have any idea at the tips of their typing fingers what the differences are. Thank you

I could be wrong but i thought a lot of the JD loader numbers asscended with age and series rather than capacity...I have a qick hitch european Quicke 2030 loader that will fit with extandable arms for sale....

Thanks for that input. That makes sense. Some of the ones I listed appear to have been used around the same time. There must be some difference between a JD46 and a JD 146. I see the words "not self-leveling" on several posting regarding the JD47 - I assume that means that it does not come down by itself, i.e. must have some weight in the bucket. Is the JD 146 self-leveling? Never to turn a blind eye to any possiblility do you have some data on the Quicke 2030

"self leveling" just means that the bucket will stay level (or in whatever position you have it in) as the loader raises and lowers, most are NOT self leveling so you will have to curl the bucket as you raise the loader to keep from dumping the load.

There are dis-advantages of SL loaders like limited rollback and more complicated linkages.

There are some good aftermarket options also if you are interested.

They're swedish and been around since 1947 and red in colour this one came off a JD2030 and would be late 70's...Quicke have a website but this model is prably too old to get much data. Not self levelling but if i remember upside down rams and manually telescopic by moving pins and bucket is a quick hitch....Very foreward mounted compared to american loaders and is a "drive in"...thats about all i know..
Mines nothing to get excited about ..It worked fine but not pretty to look at paint wise and has no chest or hoses as it was plumbed directly to the tractor remotes and was taken off and forgotten about years ago....I'll go and kick down some weeds tomorrow..?
