Pat's Easy Change Quick hitch or Pats??????

Which is prefered the quick hitch or some of the slip on things like the pats or ones seen on ebay.

Thinking of getting one or the other an have little idea on how they work

I'd stay away from the Harbor Freight stuff and don't trust the eBay stuff either. I don't use Pat's myself but many people like it and he stands behind his product.

I have just too many attachments that have the lift pins spaced differently or the attachment is not quick hitch compatable. I went with Pat's system. I think there are others here that would say they like their quick hitch. I think if you have a quick hitch before you start buying attachments, then make sure that they are quick hitch compatable, or can easily be altered, you will be OK. I myself like to buy used when I can, and the attachment doesn't always meet the standard of a quick hitch.

Oh, I see you are a welder by trade. So altering attachments to fit probably won't be an issue for you. Just something to keep in mind before buying I guess.

I can modify about anything. But really not sure about thease two items. So with the quick hitch I need to have adapters an with the pats I just back up raise the three point an hook up the top link? I would like to here a few more opions on the two.

There are special washers that need to be pined on to the lift pins for Pat's system. They are included with the purchase. But more can easily be made. If I think off it, I will run out and get a picture of them. They are nothing more than a bent washer with an additional hole drilled in them.
One other thing I forgot is that you need something to hold the lower lift arms apart when backing up to your attachemnt. Pat sells a telescoping rod assembly, but I know others have just made their own.

Therein lies the rub. There's a standard, but there's no enforcement. That's why I gave up and sold my QH, then replaced it with PEC system. Worked so good on my 45 horse (Cat 2), that I bought another set for my 35 horse (Cat 1).

A lot of the newer things have taken that into consideration, but not all. Then you get into the CUT and SCUT, limited cat1, regular cat1 hitch. So the buyer needs to beware of this stuff when purchasing an attachment.

The quick-hitch relys on a hook at the top link attachment point. On some this hook is a fixed position and some provide a little adjustment, but the equipment must have a top link pin that is correctly positioned and accessible for that hook to engage it. Many older and some new equipment is NOT compatible and I have never seen a post hole digger that was compatible.
I first boiught a quick hitch but found that I had to remove it frequently.

I then bought one of those sets that is similar to Pat's but use a pin and quick clip to retain the attachment. Those did not fit my lower links very well and were very difficult to align with the attachment when hooking up. They also were showing significant wear after a few months of use.

I then bought a set of Pat's and am pleased with them. They are not perfect but they work best for me (of any of the things I have tried).

Thanks guys. I might have to look at the pats. Anyone know which would be better for the tractor?
