Newholland 479 Haybine, Ok, so I got the Hydraulic pressure relieved on the return line and the Bine is now in the Road/Trailering position weight is off the Hydraulic Cylinder and Weight is On the Trailering Link.

Tongue is Supported by the Tongue jack and Some Wood Blocks. Wheels are blocked

The Question :

Is it better to Leave it as above for the winter (supported by the trailering link) or Is is it better to have it resting on the Ground?

I figured is was best as is (on the trailering link), since this also relieves some of the wieght/tesnion off those springs at the rear that are tensioned to maintain the cutting height . Am i Right or wrong ?

You opinions and experience are appreciated. thanks

I suggest you clean off the cutter bar with an air hose or leaf blower and then pour some old crankcase oil along it to keep it from rusting. While you are at it, check the stone guards for looseness, teeth for chips, nicks or loose bolts/rivets, belts for nicks or splits and hammer down the hold down clips. Chain tension, tire air pressure, wheel hub grease, gearbox oil level and prop shaft grease makes sense, too, before winter sets in. That way, she'll be ready to go on the day you need it. What the heck, throw some paint on it, too.
