WOW, I was looking into getting a 60" Root Grapple & 42" Pallet Fork deal from Wildkat delivered for around 2K. I'm almost sick of reading about Grapples!!! but great info out here!! After reading I'm now seriously thinking of calling Markham & see what deal I can get on the 48" LD Grapple & Forks. I thought I really wanted the the Double Jaws but everyone seems to be happy with 48" single jaw. I don't want to kill the loader lift with to heavy a grapple, it's rated at 2200. I'm a 15 acre Harry Home Owner & it would be used on the Farm except for maybe a couple of side jobs you pickup once & awhile during the year. If I don't get any replies I understand it's because everybody else is sick of reading about grapples too. Thanks, Guys

I got the forks and grapple from Markham and I really like them both. Some people on this board raved about the forks and how they were possible the single best implement they bought. I think they work just fine, but I have yet to find the job where I am soooooo thankful I have them.

The grapple on the other hand is awesome, and really is a force multiplier for the utility of the tractor. I already had the hydraulics in the front so I just changed over the connectors (to the ag style, took about 10 min and 2 adjustable wrenches) and was ready to roll. I've scooped up some large rocks/trees/logs and the jaws are plenty powerful. I have never tried the Dual Jaws, so I'm not sure how they compare. The only downside is that the kubota QA that is on my fel is apparently not exactly the skidsteer QA match (this is a known problem with the kubota apparently) so the grapple is just a little loose on the FEL. Someone far smarter than me posted some pics of a quick fix that he welded to his grapple so the kubota QA would mate better (this would be more helpful if I new how to link) but if you search around I'm sure you can find it.

Markham has a pretty good rep here, you should get a price from them. Check these guys out also, Skid Steer Root Grapple. They have very good attachments and if you ask, you can probably get the stuff for less than their asking price. I think that as far as the double jaws go, I feel that they are better, but a lot of people here would rather have the extra 150lb lift capacity than the two jaws. Skid Steer also has a lighter duty set of forks intended for compact tractors.

I got my Markham grapple and toothbar in last week, while i am impressed with the way it was built i am a little disappointed in the finish or paint on it.

mine was delivered with rust on it and the tooth bar has paint flaking off.
when i pulled the packing label off the grapple it pulled most of the paint off, and left bare steel. so there is no primer under the paint.

i haven't installed or used it yet as we have had two weeks of rain. . . you would swear i lived in the rain forest. so any way i haven't been able to get the tractor out to test it out.

i'll post some pic of the grapple after lunch as the camera is at the house.

here are the pic of the grapple. . . its still on the pallet and banded down.

i think that is a lot of rust for a new grapple. now i know that i'm going to beat it up but still kinda makes me sad to get something in like this.

there are a few pics of the tooth bar as well, its also still strapped to the grapple.

Spoke to Melissa & she recommended a Medium Duty grapple at $1200. Said the light duty on a loader rated over 1400pds lift cap., you could bend it. My tractor is rated at 2200.

I know the feeling... you'd think that a 'new' attachment would be painted a lot better. But I'd rather see a great welding job than a perfect paint job. And - 10 minutes after you put it to use, you'll never notice the rusty spots. They'll be all gone and replaced with some good old fashion scars and scratches :)

That is the only reason i didn't call Markham about it.
